Article summary

Great Cormorant roost counts are organised annually in Wallonia and Brussels regions. For the 4th year in a row, mid-winter total numbers are declining at an average rate of 9 % a year. The decline is mainly related to a strong decline in the Meuse valley roosts. Number of roosts is still increasing. Wintering of Great Cormorant in Wallonia and Brussels is still probably in the “normalization” phase, where total numbers are declining from a temporary very high level to reach stability, fluctuating around the carrying capacity of the environment.
