Article summary

In a 400 km² area (corners 50°27’19’’N 5°46’25’’W and 50°13’48’’N 6°00’25’’W) census of House and Tree Sparrows in 2001-2006 led to the sighting of two hybrid Sparrows males paired with House Sparrow females, and also a mix pair. The high ratio of hybridization cases to the total Tree Sparrow population (14 pairs) is symptomatic of a near-extinct population (3.250 pairs in the middle of the 1970s).
