Article summary

The variability of the Mealy Redpoll and the Lesser Redpoll presence on the one hand and the difficulty to keep the taxons distinct in the field on the other hand make their status in Europe and Belgium quite unclear out of the nesting period. This article attempts to clarify the situation and invites the observers to be more accurate when they identify these taxons.
