Habitat, population and breeding of the Red-backed Shrike (Lanius collurio) in Aywaille region.
The population of Red-backed Strike recently increased in the area of Aywaille (24 km south of Liège). In 1997 it reached 24 pairs in a 36 km2 area. The components of the territories are varied, mainly extensive meadows, with hedges and lanes. The average reproduction rate was between 2.65 and 3.15 flying youngs per pair in 1996 and 1977.
