Article summary

Since 1998, the Alexandrine Paraqueet is regularly observed in the Brussels region. In 1999, 6 pairs have nested in two wooded areas in the north-western side of the region; 9 nesting pairs were counted in the year 2000 at the two same places. This small group is integrated into the larger population of Ringed-necked Paraqueet (Psittacula krameri), sharing its nesting sites, feeding areas and roosting places. Elsewhere in Europe, the Alexandrine Paraqueet is not widespread at all, its reproduction in the wild occuring only in Germany.
