"Imitation" of a Treecreeper (Certhia familiaris) by a Wood Warbler (Phylloscopus sibilatrix)
Schmitz, L.

Article summary

On June 7th 2002, a Wood Warbler (Phylloscopus sibilatrix) mixed singer was recorded in the Hertogenwald, eastern Belgium. His song systematically includes the same part of the Treecreeper (Certhia familiaris) song. The two species largely coexist in the mature broadleaved woods at the western limit of the Treecreeper's range but the Wood Warbler's nestling stage, at which imprinting may be foreseen, begins as the song period of the Treecreeper is almost over.
