Article summary

Information about the feeding of young Black Stork can be obtained as a “side effect” of Black Stork colour ringing operations. We have recorded the nature of food thrown up by young storks in their nests at the time of ringing and conclude that in our area the preferred food of Black Stork is fish, depending on the conditions. We determined the most frequent diet of young Black Storks in the Gemens floodplain. We have set up correlation between the type of food available and the river regime, as well as between the type of food and the average number of youngs.
