Article summary

After a surprising first wintering from August 2000 to February 2001 in the agricultural country near Liège (Belgium), a pair of White Storcks decided to nest in the same region. The wintering and the breeding were observed again up to July 2004. One of the bird, the female, is born at Bochum (Germany) in 1996 while the origin of the male is unknown. These birds were mainly independent for their food, except during the rare periods of long freezing. At all, 8 chicks (1+1+3+3) were produced. None of them has been seen in the surroundings after their emancipation.
