Article summary

Simultaneous monthly counts of Great Cormorant roosts are conducted every winter in Wallonia and Brussels regions (Belgium). After 4 years in a row decline, mid-winter total numbers are stabilising around 3800 individuals. Number of roosts is still slowly increasing, especially in the Meuse valley where roosts are located every 12 km of the river on average. Continuous survey is needed to confirm the prediction that numbers will now be fluctuating every year around the present-day mid-winter total.
