Article summary

Among the observations of Long-tailed tits in Wallonia and Brussels for the period 1966 to 2009, one bird in 584 was noted as having a white head. These observations come from all the ecoregions of the country, and there were no significant variations between seasons. This suggests that this is primarily a case of local variants of the resident subspecies. A partial systematic census of the nesting population (2001-2007) showed that the occurrence of white headed individuals was of the order of one bird in 30 territories.
