Article summary

Since 2004, the Peregrine Falcon Falco peregrinus has nested in Brussels, totaling now a dozen pairs. This year, a pair has nested in an old nest of Carrion Crow Corvus corone on the Sacré-Coeur national basilica (Koekelberg). This is very unusual in Belgium. It has already been observed on cliffs in the Ardenne and on electricity pylons in Gaume and Western Hainaut. But this is the first time it is known to have occurred on a building.
