Black-headed and Common Gulls reaction to hail

During hailstorm Black-headed and Common Gulls in a roost stood all the same way: facing the wind with the head pointing at about 45° to the horizontal. This position minimizes exposed surface and allows birds to move their head to avoid individual hailstones.
