The data from the International Waterfowl Censuses, January 1967-1973, have been used to compile a revised set of distribution maps for 5 species of sea-ducks. The maps are designed to show the location of the main centres, and also the details of the numbers recorded in the major concentrations. The text is concerned primarily with the estimation of total numbers and with the possible methods of concervation. The species reviewed are: Somateria mollissima, Melanitta nigra, Melanitta fusca, Clangula hyemalis and Bucephala clangula.
