Longevity and structure of Swallow (Hirundo rustica) nests.
We counted 475 occupied Swallow nests 128, of which were build the same year, out of a total of 1.006 nests distributed among 179 farms. Under the assumption that the annual building rate is constant, the estimated nest life span would be around eight years. Tha availability of already built nests is of valuable interest for the few birds having three broods per year.
