Evolution of status of Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis) in the Walloon country and Brabant.
Peero, M.

Article summary

Analysis was done on the results obtained by surveys carried out from 1966 to 1984 by the Central ornithologique Aves; The number of results per year and the size of groups observed increased slowly in the seventies, followed by a spectacular increase as from 1980. On the other hand, no evolution whatsoever was noted in the phenology of the observations, which covered only migration and a few cases of wintering and summering? At the most, there was a slight increase in the length of thes periods of stay, due to the growth in numbers of birds involved. Indeed, this latter factor would appear to be the prime motive of this evolution, as the nesting population in Western Europe have experienced a large increase during the last few years.
