Regression of the Serin (Serinus serinus) in Wallonia and in Brussels Region.
Van Der Elst, D.
Between 1973 and 1977, the population of Serin in Wallonia and the Brussels Region was estimated at around 2.250 pairs. Since the beginning of the 1980's, the nesting population, the number of wintering cases, the size of the migrating flocks and the number of birds ringed have reduced considerably. The same negative trend is observed in the Netherlands. To natural fluctuations must be added, such as regression factors, cold, rainy springs and intensive poaching in eastern Wallonia.
