Nightjar (Caprimulgus europaeus) in Wallonia and Brussels
De Wavrin, H.
The present status of the Nightjar is reviewed in the light of field studies out in 1984. The species is in decline but particularly so since 1950. The population in Wallonia is down to less than 100 couples cvering as few as 50 districts which are mainly grouped into some population centres. The probable reasons for this decline are described briefly ; the decreasing number of traditionally frequented semi-natural haunts, and the possible adaptation to forest cuts.
