Results of a count of House Martin (Delichon urbica) nests in Brussel in 1992.
A count carried out on 66 squares of 1 km2 where nesting was known in Bruxelles between 1989 and 1991 founds 226 whole nests. In the south-eastern part of the region, where a count was carried out in 1982, the number of whole nests fell from 716 yo 168 ten years later (Fig. 2, 3). The cause of this decline seems to be a shortening of mud supply for nest building.
