Long-time observation of two Nutcrackers (Nucifraga caryocatactes) in the Meuse valley
A pair of Nutcrackers was recorded in 1992 during the breeding period in the area of Amay, on the right side of the river Meuse near Liège. In fact, it might be a couple, as breeeding behaviour was seen on two occasions with carrying of branchlets and rooted wood. This record occured clearly outside the breeding area of this species in South Belgium and may be related to a recent population increase.
