First sighting of the Red-breasted Goose (Branta ruficollis) in Wallonia.
On 25th November 1995, a Red-breasted Goose was observed within a group of 200 Greylag Geese (Anser anser) flying over the Harchies Marshes, in Hainaut. This is the first record of the species in Wallonia. A short review of the status of the species in Europe and on its siberian breeding grounds is presented and the problem of the origin of the bird is discussed.
