Article summary

In 1995 a survey of populations of little owls was carried out in two sample areas of the Pays de Herve and the Condroz Liégeois. The differences between the average densities observed are striking, ranging from 0.6 songbirds per km2 In the Condroz to 1.4 per km2 in the Pays de Herve. In this region the sometimes still extensive areas of old orchards make both a wider distribution of male songbirds and greater local densities possible.
