First sighting of a Ring-necked Duck (Aythya collaris) in Wallonia.
Ameels, M. et Dujardin, R.
This note refers to the first sighting of this species in Wallonia : one male on 23rd May 1996 at Latour (prov. of Luxembourg). This sightig is also one of the latest in the year ever made in Belgium, where the appearance of this duck is accidental : 13 sightings up to 1994 including some stays and some successive winter returns. The concentration of sightings near Ghent and Antwerp and a clear predominace of males (which are easier to identify) are also typical.
